About This Project

Timber Decking Project

This project was an absolute ball. The challenge was extremely difficult with no square walls, no flat ground, extremely difficult access and an existing rotten to an inch of its life deck. We had to be extremely careful with the demolition stage of the existing structure. The client had already acquired an engineer and architect for the project, which we aided the client in helping amend some of the original drawings to suit the site and the client’s budget.

Marking out the posts took a full team of workers on the sloping land, we often had 6 carpenters on site making sure that we all of our bases covered. Safely installing the 6m 155mm merbau posts was a difficult task. We had to lift them up and slide them in vertically over the cyclone rated post boots. Tying into the old roofline the new deck looks seamless yet impressive.

We changed the engineer’s recommended LVL beams to merbau LVL’s to keep the look of the deck symmetrical. We then selected white roof sheets and to paint the rafters white to tie in with the house colour, and to really allow the deck to stand out.

Our deadline for this project was Christmas. The boys didn’t disappoint, giving our client a great opportunity to show off the newly created entertainment area. Our clients kept us on as their preferred contractor to paint the outside of their house, replace gutters, landscaping and eventually, project managing their house to prepare for sale 6 months down the track.

Our client had an exorbitant amount of bush rock onsite, they really wanted a cost-effective way to incorporate it into the landscape. We installed a natural rock waterfall, cladded the front of the old paved area downstairs and created some garden beds.
